Yoga in the Park (YiP! YiP!): simple spirituality for complicated times

Respecting the diversity of faith in our world, Yoga in the Park offers a simple practice that honors the deep roots of yoga as well as the Christian tradition.  The practice is intended to help us all breathe a little more deeply, open our hearts a little more fully and to bring together our minds, souls, bodies (and hearts). ❤

You may be wondering a little more, so here’s what I can tell you about the deets of a typical YiP gathering.

Who?

  • Yoga-certified, wonderful instructors lead our gatherings.  We have been offering these sessions for over 5 years now, and we have developed a true passion for offering a yoga practice for all persons, all bodies.
  • Some attendees identify as Christian but many do not, and we don’t ever ask.
  • Groups often include first-timers to yoga, longtime devotees, and persons in-between.
  • Almost everyone who tries it out once … returns next time
  • Children and youth are welcome to gatherings.  Please note that we will do our best to offer modifications to accommodate everyone, but we require your help to best serve the littlest among us.

Where? We meet in Whaley Park in east Long Beach on Sunday mornings.  The meeting time varies from 9am-10am depending on the season.  Check out our website for the current dates:  www.BeingtheChurchLB.org

What?  We have about 30-40 minutes of Level 1 yoga (with versions for all bodies).  This includes a beginning and closing short prayer or meditative time.

Hope that helps, friends.  And hope to gather with you soon.

PS.  And in case you are wondering?  That is SO NOT ME in that photo!  But it is a free photo of Natarajasana that we have the rights to, and is such a beautiful depiction.
